A thin wrapper is filled, pleated by hand and usually steamed. Fillings vary, but meat or vegetables with ginger, garlic and spring onion are common.

At Ama Momo you get 10 steamed pieces with our signature mayo and chilli sauce. Dip, bite, repeat.

Momo vs dumplings vs gyoza: what is the difference?

Momo come from Tibet and the Himalayan region and are usually steamed with spiced fillings and a dipping sauce. Gyoza are Japanese dumplings that are often pan-fried, and potstickers are Chinese. They are all cousins with different wrappers, shapes and flavours.

How to eat momo

  1. Pick up a momo with your fingers or a fork.
  2. Dip it in your sauce.
  3. Take a small first bite, since the inside is steaming hot.
  4. Enjoy it while it is warm.

There is no wrong way, so dip as much or as little as you like.
